There are a lot of woman who have got pregnant and continued with the birth control methods without been aware of it.  The first thing that you have to do is to inform your doctor about it so that they may check for any sort of birth defects.  There are innumerable studies that have proven that continuing to be on birth control while  pregnant leads to birth defects.

Most women who get pregnant on birth control may have unknowingly taken a pill without being aware they are pregnant and the hormones found in these pills would not harm the baby. But if you continue with birth control even after  you are pregnant it could lead to serious consequences and these include:

  • Birth Defects
  • Miscarriage
  • Life threatening both for the baby and the mother.

Isn’t birth control supposed to prevent you from getting pregnant, so how come they have failed to keep their promise? Birth control pills and other forms of contraception are very effective in preventing pregnancy but only if taken properly.

The ‘if’ factor plays a major role and most woman make a couple of mistakes while on the pill and these are:

  • Starting late
  • Skipping a day

Starting late is a very common mistake that most women make, where they start taking the pill a couple of days after the next cycle.

The other mistake relates to skipping a day accidentally from taking a pill. In both these scenarios you can get pregnant on birth control. Consult your doctor and stop the pills with immediate effect so that there is no harm caused to the baby.
