On the part of the Egyptian women, during the old times they would use pessary. This is a kind of suppository that they inject in their vaginas and it is made up of oil and other lubricants. Pessary would kill the sperm during the mating process. Cervical caps have been also used by women. The Asian women use an oiled paper while European women have been using beeswax for the same purpose. At those times it was not of course that popular compared to present times.

All of these methods are used to help prevent pregnancy and at the same time prevent men and women from acquiring sexually transmitted diseases like herpes and syphilis. There were other forms of contraceptives that have been using different abortive agents. As time goes by, the use of herbal method have been gaining popularity when it comes to birth prevention and has been quite effective most of the times.

Birth control has greatly developed over the years and scientists are still looking for other ways on how to prevent pregnancy. This will be of great help to our control over our population and at the same time prevent pregnancy for couples who are not yet ready for a family.
